The branch museum, being created in the memorial estate of the poet Gavrila Derzhavin ( the River Fontanka Embankment 118), will be dedicated to one of the most important predecessors of Pushkin. The foundation of the Museum of Derzhavin and Russian Literature of his period in this house will complete a long process of building a unique museum complex, that will present Pushkin's life and creative work in the context of two epochs of Russian life (XVIII and XIX centuries), united by the similarity of their cultural development, visual and lively continuity.
